Thalapothichil therapy is an extremely cooling ayurvedic treatment. It is used to treat a number of ailments. This is one of the most prominent therapies offered at Ayush Ayurveda Singapore. The nature of Thalapothichil makes it an ideal treatment to aid with heat-affected bodies, or during the summer season. Thalapothichil can be used to treat mental issues as well, as it involves the head region. It is a traditional ayurvedic treatment and delivers best results when performed by highly skilled ayurvedic therapists like those at Ayush Ayurvedic Singapore.

Ayurveda, a centuries old science, provides cures and treatments for various conditions according to body dosha, weather and so on. Your Ayurveda consultants may prescribe standard Ayurvedic therapies as standalone treatments or in combination with other treatments based on your ailment/need. Thalapothichil treatment is very effective by itself. However, long term effects are prominent when accompanied by a rigid ayurvedic diet and an actively ayurvedic lifestyle. This includes at-home ayurvedic practices which will be outlined for you by the consultants at Ayush Ayurveda Singapore. In addition to this, in some instances, ayurvedic medicines might also be prescribed to treat and prevent any illness or discomfort. All these combined with regular treatments at Ayush ayurvedic Singapore ensure that your body is functioning at its best without any health issues. It is important to follow up with the ayurvedic consultants to see permanent relief from ailments.

Thalapothichil is derived from the Sanskrit words “thala” meaning head and “pothichil” meaning covering. In this treatment, the patient is made to sit in an upright position, ensuring that he/she is comfortable. After this, warm herbal medicated oils are used to gently massage the scalp and head. The oils used are chosen depending on the nature of the illness being treated and the dosha of the patient. The massage is done slowly and carefully, ensuring the oil deeply penetrates the head. This provides an intensely relaxing and cooling effect for the patient. Once the Abhyangam for the head is complete, a paste is made using buttermilk and herbs as required. This paste is applied in a thick uniform layer over the head, leaving a small well in the centre. This paste soothes the scalp, promotes hair health and calms the mind. A small amount of medicated oil is poured into the small opening in the center. The patient is then allowed to sit with this mixture on the head for a pre-decided period of time. Following this, the paste is removed and head massage is repeated. The patient feels almost immediate relief following this treatment. Thalapothichil helps treat physical as well as psychosomatic ailments. Depending on the nature of the illness or symptom, the ayurvedic consultant suggests the right frequency and duration for the therapy.
