Ayurveda is based on the belief that every individual has a unique balance of 3 doshas. So what are doshas? Doshas are the type of energy which is particular to ever person, and resonate characteristics which are similar to worldly elements. There are 3 doshas, vata, kapha and pitta. Ayurveda medicine is deeply rooted in finding the cause for ailments and diseases by analyzing the dosha of a person and finding which dosha is unbalanced. Once this is done, the required ayurvedic therapy and Ayurveda medicines are prescribed, in addition to lifestyle changes and therapies, which can restore balance in the body.

Each of the doshas affect people in different ways. Excess of any one of the doshas can cause a range of illnesses including heartburn, indigestion, constipation, sinus congestion and more. The key to a healthy and happy life is by following the principles of ayurvedic medicine, to ensure that your body and mind are hale and hearty.

There are many factors involved in keeping the doshas in balance. This includes diet, lifestyle, level of daily stress and habits. By changing one or all of these based on Ayurveda, you are sure to witness a drastic change in your health. For example, pitta imbalance can be eased by intake of cooling and restorative foods such as buttermilk and yogurt. Similarly, excess kapha is tackled by eating light foods without too much fat or oil. By understanding the theory behind ayurvedic medicine, it is possible to prevent and treat numerous disorders simply by making changes to day to day life, rather than taking a lot of unnecessary medication.

The meaning of Ayurveda lies in all-natural, holistic healing, which does not negatively affect the body in any way. Just by analyzing and keeping the doshas balanced, so many ailments can be kept at bay. This is a wholesome approach to health, one that has been practiced for centuries with amazing results. So, practice an ayurvedic life, and see the changes for yourself!
