Ayurveda is the science of life, which has been in practice for over 1000 years and it has started to gain awareness in the modern world as an alternative form of medicine. Ayurveda has its origins in nature-derived solutions to ailments and therapies which help relieve symptoms. It is rooted in the belief that the symphony of the mind and body should work in harmony and is what keeps an individual healthy and peaceful.

However, over the years, it has fallen prey to several widespread misconceptions owing to the many unqualified practitioners out there.

AYURVEDA IS NOT A SCIENCE – FALSE

Ayurveda is most certainly a science with its name being a testament to the same (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge) This form of treatment is not a random practice but is a combination of treatments which have been put together by skilled physicians in the past. These were trained physicians, with careful consideration and definitive study, who have compiled these into treatments. When Ayurveda is practiced in its most authentic form, it is effective, safe, and free of any harmful effects.

AYURVEDA IS SLOW ACTING – FALSE

Ayurveda is not a quick fix or is it an instantaneous answer to every health issue. Like every medical science, dutiful and regular ayurvedic practices are sure to impact individuals positively and alleviate symptoms of various illnesses and in certain cases, the effect is quite immediate. However, haphazard treatment and massages without proper posture, ingredients, study, and professional help can do more harm than good.

AYURVEDA CAN BE SELF-PRESCRIBED – FALSE

Ayurveda, is also ultimately, a medical science. This means that ayurvedic treatment and medicine must be prescribed by an Ayurvedic medical practitioner. Self-diagnosis, off the counter ‘ayurvedic’ medicines, improperly administered Ayurvedic massages, can all have a negative impact on individuals.

Mental wellbeing and physical health go hand in hand. Ayurveda aims at targeting the root cause of any problem and using therapies, massages, and medicine to treat the same. Keep your dosha balanced and your life ailment free with regular Ayurvedic therapy from qualified specialists, at Ayush ayurvedic and experience a new way of life.
